In the Health app on the I-Phone is an awesome tool that I have started to use called Walking Asymmetry. This app tracks your walking pattern and the timing of the steps you take with each foot. Walking asymmetry is the percent of time that one foot is faster or slower than the other. The lower your percentage of asymmetry the healthier your walking pattern is.
Try putting your phone in your pants pocket to check out your walking pattern.
MS patients often have gait issues. By becoming aware of your walking asymmetry, you can determine how “wobbly” your spinal column and gait are. This is the key to becoming aware of the your foot drops, weak limbs, imbalance issues, and gait problems.
Oftentimes, if my wobblies happen when I am out and about, fatigued, or worried about something I need to do, I check my phone app. Almost all the time, what I have felt is indicated by the walking asymmetry percentage and that tells me to slow my roll, rest, and be aware of my stride.
This is one easy to use and cool tech tool!
