Attending this forum on Zoom was a great opportunity to hear from the medical professionals who are doing research and working with MS patients.
There is a growing number of people researching cannabis for pain relief, the connection between eye exercises and balance, nutrition and lifestyle, acupressure for MS, Precision medicine: Biomarkers and MS, and exercise for stress reduction and health.
Of particular interest to me was the value of doing daily eye exercises for help with visual acuity, field, and balance, for if these are done daily daily, they help patients have improved balance and health. I loved this and had not considered this simple set of exercises as promoted in a session by Trent Mcentire, Optimize Your Day with FUN Sensory Training.
Developing a strong visual field makes sense because we have three components that help us balance: the visual system (sight), proprioceptive system (feeling), and the vestibular system (hearing in the inner ear). The brain integrates and processes all the information from these systems to help us maintain our balance or sense of equilibrium. Strengthening each of these systems should be part of our daily mindset for working on improving balance with MS. Here is a video to get you started:
