This sunflower lanyard indicates the wearer has an invisibility disability and cues others to acknowledge that the individual may need patience and space to accomplish what others seemingly do without a care.
There are times when I will wear this lanyard because in large crowds or noisy venues, it is easy for me to become overwhelmed. Once that happens, my ability to function might be impacted. Furthermore, this lanyard is yet another opportunity to educate others about MS and other invisible disabilities.
Sunflowers are such a bright presence, and we admire their glory and beauty. We need to see others like they are “the sunflowers in our lives” whether they have an invisible disabilty or not. Shine on, and remember that the word disability includes the term ability which we all have.
