At my last visit with my neurologist, she reminded me to do “one task at a time” and stop trying to multi-task, which I used to have mastered as an art form. This takes slowing down and being intentional. That is really hard for a “Duracell Bunny” who was all over the many tasks I felt I needed to do each day.
Now, I am much more intentional in what I plan to do each day. I have to be paced, not get overwhelmed, and keep cool to avoid sudden fatigue, cog fog, and frustration.
I set a couple of goals to accomplish each day. The most pressing get my morning attention and then I do the other tasks as I can. Taking the summer off from the college has helped me to enjoy the days and live with intention. I garden more, exercise more, cook complex dishes more, and organize one room at time; each of these is done with purpose and intention.
I am getting the hang of this intentional living, and it feels pretty good.
