Returning to Work Update

On January 2nd, I returned to the office for two days a week. I must say the first week was awkward as I tried to navigate using a different computer, my office space, a broken coffee pot, and the fact that I had to get moving quicker than normal. I have to be out the door by 6:30 and the day is long for me until 2:00. No students are in my classroom; I teach online from my office.

In hindsight, this has motivated me to be more organized. I pack my lunch the night before, lay out my clothes, and prepare my work bag by the door. I like the routine, and I love my job.

I toggle between my stand up desk and a high stool so I have better mobility to keep my body nimble. Choosing layered clothing and enough fruit, water, and snacks is required. I never thought about these needs when I was going into the office every day five days a week prior to Covid. I think the readjustment is good for the spirit, and it offers an opportunity for more engagement with co-workers.
