As I was reading through some online articles, I came across the above infographic which specifically shows the wide variety of ways that MS affects the body. Most people do not realize the breadth of MS symptoms. These are in addition to the usual symptoms of numbness, burning, tingling, bladder/bowel issues, fatigue, issues with gait, and cog fog, etc.
What strikes me as interesting is that many of these affects are something that a perceptive person can observe. In my experience, people, who know I have MS, often react to these signs of disease with corrections, suggestions, or awkward bouts of giggling. They do not understand that these symptoms are not within my control, but rather manifestations of the disease. I am reminded once again that only through education about MS will others learn what we with the disease face often on a daily basis.
